The winter of 2016/2017 brought on record snow packs and an ‘epic season’ for local skiing enthusiasts throughout the Rocky Mountains. We were there!
Spring run-off supplied the great need of local reservoirs and more. Ada County and the USACE worked together in installing flood barriers along the swollen banks of the Boise River which indeed saved Eagle, Idaho from floodwaters which would have likely seen contamination from the local water treatment facility. Entire subdivisions could have been soaking in floodwaters for over a week if it wasn’t for the actions taken by Ada County and the USACE.
Flood Defense Group assisted with providing Muscle Wall flood defense barriers and support throughout the process of installation and recovery. The flood wall quickly held back floodwaters from the Boise River without issue and were subsequently taken to storage for future use with ease. We are certainly champions of the reusability of the Muscle Wall product in combination with the ease of construction and robust design. This solution is now in the toolbox for Ada County for years to come.
Flood Defense Group was also able to assist with the removal of HESCO Bastion flood barriers which were also installed and held back floodwaters. HESCO Bastion is a British company which makes a product that matches the specifications of our USA manufactured, Louisiana Floodwall. Both products can be used together, can be stacked as required, and are excellent and holding back or redirecting big water flows.
The variety of measures deployed and working together during this flood event was a wonderful experience while the mission was accomplished on all fronts.
